Hi, I'm Suhail Ahmed. I run EVOMODA with my family from Shastri Nagar in Delhi. This blog is where we share what we've learned about fabric, manufacturing and running a business in India, so I want to start by telling you plainly who we are and what you can expect to read here.
Who is EVOMODA?
EVOMODA is a Delhi-based textile business. We manufacture and supply fabric in bulk — mainly denim, 100% polyester and polyester crepe, gingham checks and yarn-dyed stripes — and we do private-label garment manufacturing for brands, from yarn to finished garment. We also sell our own apparel online.
Our customers include fashion brands, export houses, retail chains and garment manufacturers. Every order is checked for GSM, shrinkage and colour before it leaves us, because a buyer should get the same fabric in the last roll as in the first.
Growing up around fabric
EVOMODA is a family business. I work alongside Dilshad Ahmed and Shameem Ahmed. Growing up around fabric meant learning early that this trade runs on three things:
- Trust — buyers come back when you deliver what you promised.
- Quick replies — an enquiry answered late is often an order lost.
- Getting the details right — the GSM, the shade, the width, the delivery date. A small mistake in any of them can cost a whole order.
Those lessons shape everything we do, and they shape what we write here.
Going online
At some point it was clear that word of mouth alone was not enough. We started selling apparel online — on our own store and on marketplaces. Selling online taught me things the godown never did: how customers search, how quickly they expect answers, and how much stock can sit unsold while you're busy with everything else.
How a fabric business ended up building software
Running a textile business teaches you where money quietly disappears. A buyer messages on WhatsApp and the reply goes out two days late. An Instagram enquiry sits unanswered. Rolls of one colour stay in the godown for months while another colour sells out. None of it shows up as a loss on any one day, but over a year it adds up.
I wanted one screen that showed every enquiry, every order and every slow-moving item, and told me what to do next. I couldn't find a tool that fitted how Indian traders and manufacturers actually work, so we started building one: BizOS. You can read more in my journey to building BizOS.
